Introducing our mission, philosophy, and the people behind the initiative
Knowledge has the greatest value when it is shared, discussed, and made accessible to others. Across the world, researchers, engineers, academics, and professionals develop ideas, conduct studies, and gain experiences that can help us better understand the challenges facing our societies. Yet much of this knowledge remains confined to specialized institutions, professional networks, and academic publications.
The Expertise Forum was created with a simple conviction: expertise should not remain within the boundaries of professional or academic communities. It should be shared, questioned, discussed, and made accessible to everyone willing to learn.
Through conversations with experts from different disciplines, The Expertise Forum seeks to create a space where knowledge meets curiosity and where meaningful exchanges can inspire learning, critical thinking, and new perspectives.
Our mission
Connecting Expertise with the Public
The mission of The Expertise Forum is to promote the exchange and dissemination of knowledge by connecting experts, researchers, and professionals with a broader audience.
We aim to provide a platform where individuals can share their expertise, discuss emerging ideas, explain complex subjects, and reflect on issues that influence our societies.
Our conversations are not limited to one discipline. Engineering, science, technology, education, agriculture, economics, public policy, and other areas of professional and academic expertise all have a place in the Forum.
By bringing together different perspectives, we hope to contribute to a culture of intellectual curiosity, informed discussion, and continuous learning.
Our philosophy
Knowledge Grows When It Is Shared
At the heart of The Expertise Forum is the belief that knowledge is not simply something to possess. It is something to communicate, challenge, refine, and use responsibly.
Our philosophy rests on several fundamental principles:
Accessibility
Valuable knowledge should be communicated in ways that people from different educational and professional backgrounds can understand.
Intellectual curiosity
Asking questions is essential to learning. We encourage curiosity, exploration, and the willingness to reconsider established assumptions.
Respectful dialogue
Meaningful discussions require openness, intellectual humility, and respect for different perspectives.
Scientific and professional rigor
We value evidence-based reasoning, professional experience, and the responsible communication of information.
Interdisciplinary exchange
Many of today’s challenges cannot be understood through a single discipline. Connecting different areas of expertise can enrich our understanding and inspire innovative solutions.
We also believe that expertise should not be confused with intellectual superiority. Having specialized knowledge creates an opportunity to contribute to society, but it also carries a responsibility to communicate with clarity, humility, and respect.
The purpose of expertise is not merely to demonstrate what one knows, but also to help others understand.
The people behind the initiative
Meet the Co-Founders
The Expertise Forum is a collaborative initiative founded by three Haitian engineers whose academic and professional experiences have reinforced their commitment to education, knowledge sharing, and constructive dialogue.

Co-Founder and Moderator
Ernst Masseant
Ernst Masseant is an electrical engineer specializing in power distribution planning and analysis. He works at Leidos, where his professional activities focus on electrical distribution networks, system reliability, and infrastructure planning. He holds a master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of South Florida and a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Florida Atlantic University. Beyond his engineering career, Ernst has been involved in tutoring and mentoring engineering students. His commitment to education and communication contributes to the Forum’s objective of making specialized knowledge more approachable.

Co-Founder and Moderator
Pierre Obed Dorile
Pierre Obed Dorile is a power systems engineer working at the California Independent System Operator (CAISO), where he contributes to electrical grid operations planning and reliability assessments. He holds a master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Arkansas and has professional experience in energy systems, electrical infrastructure, and power system reliability. He is also a NERC-certified Reliability Coordinator and a Fulbright alumnus. His academic and professional background reflects the importance of connecting technical expertise with the broader challenges of infrastructure development, energy security, and sustainable progress.

Co-Founder
Dr. Marc-Ansy Laguerre
Dr. Marc-Ansy Laguerre is a civil engineer specializing in earthquake engineering, structural vulnerability, and disaster risk mitigation. He earned his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from Rice University and his master’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh. He has worked as a postdoctoral researcher at Rice University and has taught engineering courses in both the United States and Haiti. His research focuses on understanding the seismic vulnerability of structures and improving the resilience of communities exposed to natural hazards. As an educator and researcher, he is particularly interested in making scientific knowledge more accessible and strengthening the connections between research, education, professional practice, and society.
What to expect
What to Expect from The Expertise Forum
The Forum will feature conversations, presentations, and discussions involving individuals with expertise in a variety of fields. Our goal is not simply to provide a platform for experts to present their accomplishments. We want to explore their ideas, understand their work, examine the challenges they encounter, and discuss how their knowledge can contribute to addressing real-world problems. We also hope to encourage students, young professionals, and curious individuals to engage with subjects they might not otherwise encounter in their daily lives.
